ELVIN GRIFFIN

Elvin Griffin passed away on Monday August 26, 2002.

Elvin was an Elite rollerskating professional teacher.   He had started skating in 1948 at the Old Delaware Rink, in Wilmington, DE before switching to the Merryland Rink in Glasgow, DE.
He made Nationals in 1949 as a Speed skater but then switched to Artistic Figure Skating.   He competed for many years in Figure, Freestyle, Pairs and Fours skating.
Elvin excelled as a pairs skater.   In 1969, he turned Professional and began teaching at the Riverside Rollerdrome until it closed.
He then began teaching at the New Holiday Skating Center in Delanco, NJ.
He helped to build the Holiday Skating Club into the finest Artistic skating club in the country.
Elvin taught many National and World champions as well as regular Social skaters.
In recent years he taught skating at the Parkway Skating Center in Northfield, NJ and the Scooters Rink in Marlton, NJ.   He was liked by all who came in contact with him.   He touched many lives as a role model, teacher and friend in the sport he loved; ROLLER SKATING.

He died from a heart attack which he suffered while driving on vacation in Virginia.
His Funeral arrangements are as follows:

Viewing - Thursday August 29th 6-9 PM

Viewing and Services - Friday August 30th 8-10 AM
