The Roller Sports Web Hall of Fame was created in August of 2000 to honor those people, RS Web members or not, who perform some outstanding service to the RS Web and/or the World's Roller Skaters. Entrance to the Hall of Fame is in recognition of an action, above and beyond the normal, performed out of Love of the sport, and/or to the benefit of U.S. and/or International roller skating.The number of new members per year is limited
Candidates may be from any branch of the sport. It is not neccessary to be an active skater to be nominated to the Hall of Fame. Consideration for induction is accomplished by email to the Webmaster of the RSWEB, nominating the candidate for H.O.F. Membership. All nominations must be from people who are Members of the RS Web.
When we receive such nominations, the selection committee will meet to review the achievement(s) of the Nominee, and will vote to accept or reject the nomination as soon as possible.
Steve serves as President of the Eastern Region Artistic Coaches Association (ERACA), as the Eastern Region USARS Liason between the RS Web and the E. Region USARS, and is an active participant in many other efforts of the E. Region USARS Association and the RS Web.
Additionally, Steve is one of the top Professional Instructors in the region.
He also works tirelessly in his capacity in the Tri-State Association of the Eastern Region to help with the planning, coordination and running of numerous Tri-State Contests throughout the year.
He also single-handedly took over 90 pictures of skaters on the Awards pedestal at the 2000 US Eastern Regional Championships this year for Both the Standard and Junior Olympic Competitions. He stayed at the rink and got what rest he could between his Official duties at Regionals in order to be present to take pictures at all Award Ceremonies.
Steve also provided THIRTY SIX Video Clips of the Artistic National Championships for posting on the RS Web for all skaters and non skaters to see.
A quiet, easy going person, Steve will undoubtedly be embarrased by his entry into the RS Web's Hall of Fame. However, there are many people who feel that he belongs here, and I am proud to be one of them.
Robert spent most of his free time taking terrific pictures and sending them in a timely manner to the RS Web.
Without his unselfish effort on behalf of all rollerskaters, there would not have been a "Photo Tour of Nationals" site on the RS Web.
On occasion, he was up from Before 6AM until he sent me the pictures, sometimes as late as 1 AM the Following morning.
Robert started the Photo Tour the very first day, and although he did not plan to, he stayed till the end of the Standard Artistic Nationals to be sure the skaters would get the photos of the events.
He had his own children to take care of, yet he never failed to "pop up" all over the Pershing Auditorium to snap another group of pix for the RS Web members, and others who might have been seeing what we are all about for the First time.
With members like Robert, the sport of Rollerskating and the Roller Sports Web can only grow and prosper. We owe him a debt of gratitude for his devotion to sport.
