We have had many emails asking why we do not provide links to certain sites, such as Skating Equipment sites.
Since the RS Web IS "non profit", COMMERCIAL sites that are MAKING MONEY from the sales of Roller Skating equipment should NOT expect or demand that we donate our Time and Money for FREE to them in order that they have access to our International user audience.
Those Commercial sites that still wish Free advertising, through links or ads, CAN receive that Free advertising, Provided they sign a contract with us to provide us with Free Skating equipment in return.
We encourage all RS Web users to patronize those Commercial Skating equipment sites that are willing to help support the very thing that will be providing them with Profits by paying to Advertise on any RS Web site, That way, we would All receive some help in paying the bills for our Servers, Domain Name charges, and other incidental costs associated with running an RS Web site.
While there is nothing in the Membership rules to prohibit any RS Web member site from posting links to, or otherwise advertising for a Commercial site, we do encourage each Webmaster to consider our position for adoption on their site(s). We have come up with a more-than-fair price for Site wide Banner Advertising on the RS Web Hub site
Commercial entities wishing to advertise on Either the US National area OR the World area may do so at a Yearly cost of $180.00 for Either area
Those wishing to advertise in Both areas would pay a yearly price of $300.00. All such payments must be made In Advance of any ads being placed on the RS Web Hubsite
Sites other than the Hub site of the RS Web should be contacted to get their Ad pricing.
As far as Non Commercial roller skating sites that are not interested in joining the RS Web:
We do provide a link to sites that wish only to "swap links", provided they return the favor.
This link can be found on the World listing page at the bottom, and is labeled "Non Member Sites".
Also, in our opinion, Roller Skating Rinks are NOT subject to the advertising costs, since they are the very Foundation of our sport, and I think we are obliged to support them as we can.
Thanks for your time reading this, and I would appreciate comments, pro or con on this subject.
