Southern Teams Claim Five Of Six Titles At 2002 USA
Hockey InLine National Championships

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- Teams from Florida, Georgia,
Louisiana and Virginia skated away with five of the
six possible championship crowns at the 2002 USA
Hockey InLine National Championship, which concluded
at The Cooler today.

In the 10-and-Under final, the Team Hyper Outlaws
(La.), led by All-Tournament Team selection Sean
Doolin with a goal and two assists, edged the host
Mission Cooler Selects (Ga.) by a score of 3-2. In the
12-and-Under championship game, Joshua Riccio notched
a hat trick, including two goals in the last two
minutes of the game, to lead the Tour Tritons Gold
(Fla.) to a 6-5 victory against the Mission Cooler
Selects (Ga.) and the 12-and-Under title.

All-Tournament Team Selection Attila Tassi of the Mad
Dogs (Va.) backstopped his squad to the 14-and-Under
National Championship in a 5-0 shutout victory versus
the Mission Cooler Selects (Ga.). Corey Toy scored
four goals and Brian Calloway picked up a goal and two
assists in the win and also earned All-Tournament Team
honors. In the final contest of the day,
All-Tournament Team selection J.C. Kibbe registered a
goal and two assists to help the Orlando Roller Bears
(Fla.) hold on to a 5-3 victory against Hockeygear.com
(Conn.) to clinch the 17-and-Under crown.

In the first-ever USA Hockey InLine Girls' National
Championships, Kim Logan tallied two goals toward Team
Atlanta's (Ga.) 3-2 win against the Panthers 1 (Va.)
and was selected to the All-Tournament Team in the
Girls' 12-and-Under division.

The Eagles of Cincinnati, Ohio, skated away with the
Girls'17-and-Under National Championship as
All-Tournament Team netminder Jennifer Hagle held off
the Mt. Hood Thunder (Ore.) for the 3-1 victory.
"It's a great sense of accomplishment to finally win
with this team," said Kibbe. Some of us have been to
the Nationals and won with other teams, and we used
that as motivation for the other guys to go out and
play our best. We wanted it so much we could taste
it."

The USA Hockey InLine Seth Jones Spirit Award was
given to Joe Croce of the 10-and-Under East Fishkill
Dragons. Seth Jones, and active member of USA Hockey
InLine, was killed in a helicopter crash as part of a
Marine training mission in April of 2000. This award
is presented annually to a player in the USA Hockey
InLine National Championships who best exemplifies the
fairness, honesty, commitment, determination,
competitiveness and overall love for the game of
inline hockey that characterized Seth Jones.

The USA Hockey InLine National Championships serve as
the nation's premier youth inline hockey event. This
year's tournament showcased 45 teams in six age
divisions and is the culmination of 10 USA Hockey
InLine Regional Championships held earlier this
spring. The tournament was held at The Cooler for the
first time in the history of the event.
