International Ice Hockey Federation In-Line Hockey (USAHIL) World Championships
PFAFFENHOFEN, Germany
The USA Hockey InLine National Team opened its preliminary round competition at the 2002 International Ice Hockey Federation In-Line Hockey World Championships with a 19-0 shutout of Great Britain.
The line of Jason Deskins (Warren, Mich.), David Brito (Oakland, Calif.), Ernie Hartlieb (Sterling Heights, Mich.) and Lee Henson (Anaheim, Calif.) combined for 10 of Team USA's 19 goals in today's victory.
Deskins, who was named Team USA's Player of the Game by the IIHF, led the squad in scoring with four goals and five assists. He was followed closely by linemate Brito, who notched five goals and assisted on two others.
U.S. netminders Jeff Reynaert (Sterling Heights, Mich.) and Jamie Bufalino (Detroit, Mich.) shared the shutout, posting four and five saves, respectively.

In other tournament action, Germany defeated Belgium last night by a 37-1 margin. Today, Sweden downed Chile, 58-0; Slovakia knocked off Japan, 9-5; Hungary edged Brazil in an 8-6 decision; and reigning gold-medalist Finland earned a 14-2 win against Slovenia. The 2001 bronze-medalist Czech Republic claimed a 26-6 victory against Belguim and Germany topped Argentina, 27-1.
